34th- National book festival begins in Salem

The 34th edition of National Book festival began on February 7 at Salem Bose Grounds.

Organized by National Book Trust, New Delhi in association with New Century Book House, the motive of the book festival is to spread peace in the world, society without any differences by popularizing books that provide scientific thoughts, people reading standard literature and to develop reading habit, said the organisors.

On display at the book fair are books for children, medicine, technology, internet literature, social studies, history, arts and literature, agriculture handicraft, astrology and books written by famous writers. Books published by National Book Trust, Sahithya Academy and Ambedkar Academy are exhibited at the fair.

Books written by late President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and senior IAS officer V. Irainanbu will be sold with special discount offer.Discounts will be offered to the school students said the organisors.

Salem Corporartion Commissioner R.Sadeesh inaugurated the fair.
