The AIADMK, Salem Urban unit today decided to give Chief Minister Edappadi K Paanisawmy a grand welcome on his visit to Salem on December 1.
The visit asssumes significance as it is the first time the Chief Minister comes to his home district after the restoration of the Two leaves symbol of the party, said G.Venkatachaam, Salem West MLA cum Urban Unit Secretary, presiding over a party meeting today. Edappadi K Palanisamy will inaugurate the flyover constructed at Thiruvagoundenur bypass.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 30 crore it is one of the four more bridges under construction in Salem at an outlay of Rs 800 crore. The bridges will greatly decongest traffic and provide ease of driving into the city. At today’s meeting it was also resolved to conduct to observe the first anniversary of ate chief minister Jayalalithaa’s death on December 5.
It was decided to conduct a silent rally from Periyar Statue to Anna Statue and conduct floral a tributes to the portrait of the departed leader in 20 places in each of the sixty divisions of the Salem Corporation. Salem MP.V.Paneerselvam, former MLA and Urban Secretary M.K Selvaraj, former Mayor S.Soundappan were among those present at the meeting.
