Salem student selected for Indian team to South Asian Football championship for cerebral palsy

P.Mouli Balaji from Ezhumathanur village near Ilampillai has been selected to play for the Indian Team (CP 7-A-Side) football championship 2018.

The event is being held between January 13 to 17 at Pokhara in Nepal and is organized by the Nepal CP 7-A-Side Football Federation.

The selection letter has been handed over to him by the Cerebral Palsy international sports association and the Paralympics Committee of India and Ministry of Sports.

Mouli Balaji had been showing talent in sports and games from his early years. He suffered a severe deformity on his right hand when crackers exploded on his hands during a deepavali celebration. Yet he continued to show interest in sports say his teachers at Jothi Vidyalya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ilampillai.

His father S.Pushpanathan is a driver in a private company and his brother Mani Barathi studies in the same school in class 9.

Mouli ‘s selection for the Indian team was preceded by district level championships held in Salem and Goa. He showed extraordinary talent in these rounds and was qualified for the section in the nationals said his school authorities. He was felicitated by the Principal, Physical education teachers and class teachers on Monday.
