In a tragic incident today morning, a ten year old boy drowned in a well located behind the Government College of Arts and Science.

According to preliminary investigations of the police, the victim Subi Kesawan went to learn swiming in the well today morning around 7.00 am with his friends.

The boy’s lives in Kumarasamypatti with his mother Madheswari, a widow and three elder brothers. His father Murugesan who was running a hircut salon died two months back. While his brothers study in nearby school in A.R Lines, Subi Kesavan was in class 5 at Barathi Vidyala in Maravaneri.

Today morning Subi and his friends went to well. When the boys got inside, Subi Kesvan did not come out of the water for a long time. His friends panicked and realising that he had drowned, they run from the spot screaming for help

The students in the College hostel which is located near the well heard the noise raised by the boys and went and looked into the well and spotted Subi Kesavan surfacing. They informed the Hasthampatti police who arrived at the spot. The Fire and Rescue Vehice from Shevaipet Fire Station came and lifted the boy but he was dead by then.

Heart wrenching scene was witnessed at the spot as the mother and brothers wailed in agony. Hasthmpatti police seized the body and sent it for postmortem.
