Women's box cricket tournament to be held in Salem


For the first time in Salem’s cricketing history, a women’s box cricket league tournament is being organized on January 28.

The objective of organizing the event in Salem is to encourage and increase women participation in sports at the local level, said the organizers. The Rotary Club of Salem Cosmos is organizing the event which will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm. The league would be having total of Seven teams with ten players each in every team (eight with two substitutes). There will be thirteen matches with five over’s.   The teams are Cosmic Challengers (Rotary Club of Salem Cosmos), Metro Rockers (Rotary Club of Metropolis), Agarwal Stayers (Agarwal Sabha Trust) Striking Queens (BNI Salem). Lipstick Warriors (Parshwanth Jain Trust), Swag Sindhis (Salem Sindhi Ladies Chapter), Guts and Glory (Maheswari Mandal) and SceaSuper Queens (Civil Engineers Association).   The events core committee includes, Mr & Mrs. Ram Kandewa, Mr and Mrs. Hitesh Rathore (Event chairpersons), Mr and Mrs. Omi Kara (Event co-chairpersons).   CFCM News (Centre for Community Media)   (CENTRE FOR COMMUNITY MEDIA)
