An awareness cum registration camp on “Financial Support to MSMEs in Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification Scheme” jointly organized by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, Quality Council of India (QCI) and Salem District Small Scale and Tiny Industries Association (SADISTIA) is being held in Salem.
In a communication to the press today, K.Mariappan President of Salem District Small-Scale & Tiny Industries Association (SADISTIA) has stated that the awareness cum free registration camp is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on December 18 (Monday) & 19-12-2017 (Tuesday) at SPC Bhawan Conference Hall, Manivannan Road, Opposite to the New Bus Stand, Salem.
The programme is offered at free of cost with the support of Entrepreneurship Development & Innovation Institute, Government Of Tamilnadu, District Industrial Centre, Salem and Salem Productivity Council for the benefits of existing Entrepreneurs.
The slogan “Zero Defect Zero Effect” was given by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it signifies, production mechanisms wherein products have no defects and production process which has zero adverse environmental and ecological effects. Thus, the ZED model aims to achieve high quality manufacturing that’s also green. While putting efforts to make India become a manufacturing hub, the ZED model is necessary to take forward the efforts, pointed out K.Mariappan.
For this, the Central Government has approved a Financial Support to MSMEs in ZED Certification Scheme with a total budget of Rs. 491.00 Crores for 22,000 MSME units all over India. So far around 17,000 MSME units have taken registrations for ZED evaluation at free of cost and only another about 5000 MSME units can take registration under this scheme at free of cost on the basis of registrations made on first- come-first served. Thereafter, the ZED certification process will cost as stipulated by the Quality Council of India, DC-MSME, Govt. of India, K.Mariappan stated further.
The advantage of ZED assessment and adoption facilitates MSMEs to reduce wastages substantially, increase productivity, expand their market, become vendors to CPSUs, have more IPRs, develop new products and processes etc.
K. Mariappan, further emphasized that the Government of India was going to make registration of ZED as mandatory to operate any MSME units in India and only ZED registered MSME units will be considered for availing any Subsidy / Grant-in-Aid / Financial Assistance and Vendor registration for Public Procurement. All the participants will be guided to get the ZED registration at the end of the technical session of this programme.
The eligibility to participate in this programme is restricted only to the existing MSME units which has Udhyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) registration.
